How to Balance a Game

Sooner or later, every game designer faces the need to work with tables. Basic knowledge of Google Sheets or Excel is usually enough to do simple calculations and to work on game balance. But as the game develops and acquires new entities, we need to organize a convenient and effective structure. And of course, you also need to be able to easily navigate it, supplement and modify it, and it must be resistant to errors.

Andrey Revenko, Lead Game Designer at Pixonic, discusses tables and their additional features, which can be useful for both beginners and experienced game designers. Examples are provided in Google Sheets (as they are more commonly used by development teams) but most also apply to MS Excel.
